Questions

Weekend FAQ

Could I do this in winter?
Yes, and it is arguably better. The outdoor thermal pools are more atmospheric, the Castle District is empty, and December adds the Vörösmarty tér and Basilica Christmas markets. Just pack for 0°C and daylight ending around 16:00.
Is 18 km of walking realistic?
It is spread over three days and mostly flat, apart from Castle Hill and Gellért Hill. If mobility is a concern, use tram 2 and the M1 metro more aggressively and take the Castle Garden Bazaar lifts.
What if I only have two days?
Cut Sunday's Gellért Hill climb and the Parliament tour. Keep the bath, Castle Hill, the market and one good dinner — those four define the city.
Where should I stay to make this work?
Anywhere in Districts V, VI or VII puts every item on this plan within a 25-minute walk or two metro stops.
