1 — Agreement

Who these terms are between

These terms govern your use of curiouslanescoutshelvs.lat, published by Dunaszél Media Kft. (“we”, “us”), Váci utca 47, 3rd Floor, 1056 Budapest, Hungary, company number 01-09-427318. By browsing the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please stop reading and close the page.

2 — What this site is, and is not

We publish independent editorial travel guides to Hungary. We are not a travel agency, tour operator, accommodation provider or ticket reseller. Nothing on this site constitutes an offer to sell a travel service, and we do not take bookings, payments or deposits from readers. Any contract for transport, accommodation, bath entry, museum admission or wine tasting is made directly between you and that supplier, on their terms.

3 — Accuracy, prices and timetables

Every route in these guides has been walked and every price checked against the operator at the date shown on the page. Hungarian fares, bath tariffs, museum hours, ferry seasons and bus frequencies nevertheless change frequently and without notice. Figures given in forint are indicative, and euro equivalents are rounded at approximately 395 HUF to the euro.

You should always confirm times and prices with the operator before travelling — MÁV for rail, BKK for Budapest transport, Volánbusz for regional coaches, and the bath or museum concerned for admission. We correct errors promptly when they are reported; please tell the desk if you find one.

4 — Permitted use

5 — Intellectual property

All original text, itineraries, tables, photography, illustrations, the Danube emblem and the site design are © Dunaszél Media Kft. unless credited otherwise. Third-party photographs are used under the licences of their respective providers and remain the property of their authors. Trade names such as MÁV, BKK, Volánbusz, Széchenyi, Zsolnay and Tokaji are the property of their owners and appear here for identification and editorial purposes only.

Commercial licensing of our text or images is available. Write to the desk with the intended use, territory and duration.

6 — Editorial independence

The promise behind every guide

We accept no sponsored content, affiliate commissions, press trips, complimentary meals or paid placements. Restaurants, baths, cellars and hotels cannot buy an entry in this publication, improve a description or remove a criticism. Where a business is named, it is because an editor paid full price and thought you should know.

If you believe a passage reads like advertising, write to the desk and we will review it publicly.

7 — Your submissions

Corrections, tips and photographs

When you send us a correction, tip or photograph, you confirm that it is yours to send and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right to use the information — and, where offered, the image — in our guides, with a credit if you ask for one. You keep ownership of everything you send. We will not publish your email address, and we do not pay for unsolicited submissions unless agreed in writing beforehand.

8 — Third-party links

External links are provided for your convenience — typically to an operator's official timetable or ticket page. We check them when a guide is published or updated, but we do not control those sites, cannot guarantee their availability and accept no responsibility for their content, pricing or data practices.

9 — Limitation of liability

The site and its content are provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by Hungarian law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, including missed connections, sold-out tours, closed attractions, seasonal ferry suspensions or reliance on a price that has since changed. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Hungarian safety rules mentioned throughout this site are summarised, not reproduced. In particular: the drink-driving limit in Hungary is zero, thermal bathing carries health considerations for some visitors, and mountain paths in the Visegrád and Balaton Uplands are unlit and unsupervised. Use your own judgement and, where relevant, medical advice.

10 — Availability and changes

We aim to keep the site available at all times but may suspend it for maintenance or technical reasons without notice. We may amend these terms; the effective date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

11 — Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Hungary. Disputes fall to the competent courts of Budapest, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you enjoy in your country of residence. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder continues in force.

Questions

Terms FAQ

Can I print an itinerary and take it with me?
Yes, please do — that is exactly what these pages are for. Printing for personal use, including for the people travelling with you, is expressly permitted.
Can my tour company use your text?
Not without a licence. Commercial reuse, including on a tour operator's website, in a brochure or in a guide's script, requires written permission from the desk.
A price in a guide was wrong when I arrived. What now?
We are sorry, and we would like to fix it. Prices are indicative and dated; they are not a guarantee, and we cannot reimburse a difference. Send us the current figure and we will update the page.
Do you accept liability for a missed train connection?
No. Our timings are sampled on a specific date and clearly labelled as such. Always confirm the day's departures with MÁV or Volánbusz before relying on a tight connection.
